quick info about daybit (spoilers for lb7)

What is he?
Some sort of weird true angel/cosmic angel. The "Terminal of the Dark Star."

What is the Dark Star?
We have no idea yet. All we know is that it's an entity older than the Big Bang that seems to hate the corruption of civilization (the requisite for its relic to activate is no deaths happening for 24 hours in a range that can only be considered a true miracle). Daybit has knowledge of how the universe truly looks like and its components because they are synchronized.

Is he human?
Daybit is 100% biologically human, buuut...he's weird. He's not part of "Humanity"/"The Human Order." His DNA is identical to the son of the researcher who found the "angelic relic" and had his ego/memories, but he is not the boy. He's a replica made by the Dark Star after the oopsie of activation. The boy's name along with his records plus all his father's were erased from existence. They are forever existing as outlines burned to the ground (that still live...). That said... his body is still a tiny bit weird. He can get the heart of Beast VII implanted in him without discomfort. He assimilates it. And he cannot be observed unless he's close by. Even by Archetype Earth. Multiple people say he is a hole/void in the world. As if he had less atomic density than normal. He's kinda like an astronomical supervoid given human form. It's all fine if your character senses he's weird if they are attuned to that.

Is he good?
He tries to do good to be human as the basis of his drive and goal, but he still has a cosmic perspective, so blue and orange morality happens. He thought destroying Earth and humanity to save the universe (and humanity's reputation) also qualified as "to do good." He really likes humanity and wouldn't destroy Earth if he didn't feel he had no other choice. But he's very wholesome in his socially awkward way. He would help people with menial tasks if they needed help - even if they didn't ask. Thank the father/researcher's teachings of humanity's goodness that Daybit wants to follow them as he embraces that identity.

Anything else?
He's a prodigy and a "true" genius (according to Da Vinci). He learns to drive from online learning and based on the memories of the movies he (the boy) watched as a kid. Having those memory issues (reset) really doesn't hold him back in anything but the quality of his terrible social skills. He can accurately assess most things and circumstances (like what happened in the lostbelt he got assigned), but he thinks he can't work together with people because he's an outsider.
Daybit can't summon Servants because he's not part of the Human Order. Tezcatlipoca was an exception because he used the land and then made a contract. But he does have his unique summons. An "angel" appears to mirror the number of his enemies he confronts. Those angels use the Foreigner Servants game sprites (specifically the Foreigners connected to Lovecraft mythos), but the description isn't like them, so it could be a placeholder. On the other hand, Abigail Wiliams (Yog Sothoth's daughter/priestess/vessel in FGO) brought up the Dark Star in a deferential way (we don't know if she meant it in a metaphorical way or literally), and the From Lostbelt manga did kind of portray his guardians with that assumption. I prefer to keep it vague until we know for sure.
He doesn't know the boy's name. Nobody does anymore. So "Daybit Sem Void" is something he made up to have an identity. Probably the mages made a false ID to make him blend in. As for his age, he's in his early 20s. The boy was 10 years old when the angel artifact was activated (2004), and the sabotage happened in 2015. After he restored himself, Daybit spent a year in the Mesoamerican Lostbelt, so he's roughly 22 (the Dark Star is as old or older than the Big Bang tho).

Shipping?
Mostly, no aside from maybe certain castmates. Daybit doesn't think he can truly bond with people. If I play him in shipping memes, it'll be more likely to lean into awkward comedy situations. From his canon, my fav to explore would be Pepe/Daybit. I don't mind Tezca/Daybit, Kirsch/Daybit, and Guda (female or male)/Daybit in memes. I don't think he has any preferences, expectations, or actual interest with his preconceptions about his capacity to grow close to others as an outsider. Those are just his closest relationships. Pepe is unambiguously in love with Daybit and Daybit went out his way to help him once, that is why I think would be easier to explore for a more serious romantic dynamic. I do ship Tezday-Daytez, but there are strong found family and platonic elements in their bond that takes priority to other aspects.

Any particular headcanon? I consider that Daybit has nahua blood in him; most likely his mother's side (he's got slightly darker skin than his archaeologist father in the flashback). I don't know. It just makes sense. Crypters and Lostbelts usually have a connection (Pepe being Japanese and assigned to India does not mean he's not connected. In Type-Moon, a lot of the Japanese gods and even their afterlife are from India; and gods' bodies and his tengu arts have roots there). His profile says he was born in Nevada, so his maternal family could have been immigrants or someone his father met in his travels, or it could be bullshit as it was written before the reveal. Lord Brishisan's tongue-in-cheek joke that Daybit's nationality is "alien." Nobody knows the boy's name or any information about him. He had a lot of books on Mesoamerica which Daybit inherited. And knew how to play football (Nasu isn't above stereotypes). He's also usually portrayed with a slightly darker complexion than the other Crypters. It's not obviously not that darker-skinned, but he has a bit more melanin there.
